In the 1930's, the Great Depression cause widespread devastation across the United States. Poverty went rampant and the unemployed often had to wait for hours in the cold in lines that stretched out as far as the eye could see in order to find work or get food. Where there had once been such promise for the country, now there just remained dilapidation and hopelessness.
